Although South Africa did not attract large scale migration, many Irish immigrated in small numbers throughout the 19th century. Hundreds of Irish worked in the mines and many others fought in Irish regiments during the two Anglo Boer Wars. Despite the fact that census and civil records are not that accessible, several of our clients’ ancestors have been identified on ship passenger lists travelling to and from SA.
